Rutland Rd

Project Overview

Rutland Road is set amidst the beautiful rural landscape of Harden, New South Wales. What was essentially over a hectare of vacant farmland has been transformed through a shared vision to create a contemporary, highly efficient family home that takes full advantage of its natural setting.

The ‘blank canvas’ of a vacant lot meant that we were able to start from scratch, spending time at the site and designing a bespoke residence to maximise the position while being as functional, stylish and energy efficient as possible.

The house is north facing and slightly elevated with double height window walls in the main living areas that effectively bring the outside views in.   In Summer, the louvered windows provide cross ventilation to keep the house cool.  Inside spaces are considered, with different ceiling heights striking a balance between light filled entertaining areas and cosy nooks.

Double glazing, premium insulation and polished concrete floors create thermal mass and deliver superior energy efficiency all year round.  The creative landscaping and mix of exterior materials deliver a striking, contemporary residence that perfectly complements its surrounds.
